"Dental Implants" Bringing Back Your Confident Smile
The loss of teeth always bring anxiety to patients as it takes away your smile and confidence. When a tooth is missing, the adjacent ones will lean to the gap causing more gaps which will affect your chewing and trapping food bits in the oral cavity resulting in overall health of the patients. Therefore, patients with missing tooth or teeth need a replacement to prevent such problems and regain the confidence. Dr. Pongsakorn Praserttham, our Oral and Dental Implant Surgeon at Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin shares that dental implant is one of the best treatment options for tooth loss as it is the most effective way to achieve the natural teeth looks. You can chew and speak normally without any concerns that they may move or become loose when using them. The material used for implantation is titanium which is well accepted by body tissue without reaction. Titanium has been successfully used for dental implantation for the last 30 years with success rate over 90 per cent. The dental implant may be one tooth or multiple teeth and they can be used as anchor to lock the denture When compared with the dental bridge or fixed dental prosthesis which have been popular for a long time, the advantage for dental implant is that you do not need other teeth for the support.  Dental bridges require removing part of outer surface of adjacent good teeth to add dental crowns linking the bridge.  When one of the adjacent teeth has a problem leading to the failure as an anchor, the whole bridge may have to be removed. Generally, dental implant treatment is divided into 2 phases. The first phase is a surgical process to implant the titanium screw into the jawbone which will be used as an anchor for the new prosthetic tooth.  After the surgery, the new bone will grow in and fix the metal screw which may take 2 – 4 months. The second phase  is to attach the abutment which will be used as a stem for the new prosthetic tooth. Nowadays, with advanced dental technological, the 3D computerized x-rays is used to help the dentists plan their treatments more efficiently. The process becomes less time-consuming and improved positioning accuracy of surgery along with improving design and create dental crown in terms of shapes, sizes, and colors similar to the natural teeth of individual patients. Therefore, dental implant treatment is a good option for a complete restoration for tooth loss to regain normal chewing. The costs of the procedure and the time used in the process are worthwhile as the implant is very durable and last a lifetime. However, the dental implants require similar treatments as in natural teeth.  Maintaining good oral hygiene by regularly brushing the teeth after eating and before going to bed by using a soft brush together with the dental floss are important. The hard and chewy food may have to be avoided and most importantly, the patients should see a dentist for regular oral and dental check-up at least every 6 months to ensure the health of your teeth including dental implants to last for long term, Dr. Pongsakorn added. Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin has a team of dentist specialists to take care of dental patients along with well-equipped with modern dental technologies and high standard sterile technology to ensure the quality of dental services to prevent dental and oral problems with a focus on the patient safety. ********************************************************************* Dental Clinic, Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin Please Contact: Tel. 032-616-872  | Email: [email protected]
